Understanding U.S. Duties and Import Taxes
If you're a U.S. customer shopping with us, here’s what to expect regarding import fees and shipping:
Where Are Spartan Tools Made?
Our blades are forged in Japan for their exceptional sharpness and durability. The remainder of each tool is assembled in China by a trusted manufacturing partner we've worked with for years. We’re proud of this relationship and fully stand behind the quality and craftsmanship of every product we ship.
Why Are There Tariffs?
Because the majority of our tool components originate from China, U.S. customs currently imposes a 145% tariff on these items when imported. This is unfortunately out of our control, but we are committed to helping you understand your options and avoid surprises at delivery.
Your Shipping Options
At checkout, you’ll be offered two choices:
1. Pay Shipping Only (Duties on Delivery)
You pay for shipping now, and duties and import taxes will be collected by USPS upon delivery. These are based on current U.S. tariff rates, typically 145% of the product value.
2. DDP - Prepay Duties (Handled by Us)
You can choose to prepay all import fees and customs duties upfront. We’ll take care of everything—including customs documentation, clearance, and final delivery—so there are no added charges or holdups.
